Most Popular Indie Games of All Time

Indie games are becoming popular recently. Although there have been some indie games that have been around for years before it was popular like Fez (a puzzle platformer game) but not much people would know about it. Most gamers go for mainstream games like Call of Duty, Assassin’s Creed etc. However, more people are starting to play indie games. Here’s a list of the most popular indie games to get you started on your adventure into this genre of gaming!

Terraria

Terraria is inspired by the 2D sandbox games that were popular in the early days of video gaming, such as Minecraft, Dwarf Fortress and Dungeon Keeper.

The player controls a character who has just survived a great catastrophe, known as “the event”. The goal is to help guide this character through various environments and biomes, defeating bosses and gathering resources along the way. The game’s world is randomly generated as the player explores it. There are many different enemies in Terraria that try to kill you including slimes, zombies and even an end boss called “The Destroyer”. Enemies will often drop items when they die which can then be picked up by the player allowing them to collect loot from monsters they’ve killed in combat!

Rocket League

Rocket League is a vehicle soccer video game that can be played online or locally with friends. Players control rocket-powered cars in an arena to score points by hitting a ball into their opponent’s goal.

The game uses physics simulation to handle the cars’ movement through the air along with the ball. Players can choose between two modes: one-on-one standard matches or two-versus-two matches called “mutators.” In addition to playing standard matches against other players or computer-controlled characters, players can participate in ranked or unranked online games with friends or complete strangers. The game features several game modes, including exhibition matches where players can play a single match against another player or team of players, as well as season mode where they compete against computer-controlled characters in multiple divisions with the hope of reaching the top division and winning the championship trophy.

Minecraft

Minecraft is a video game that was first released in 2009, and has since become one of the most popular indie games ever made.

The premise is simple: you’re given an empty world and you can do whatever you want with it. You can build houses, or cities, or even entire planets if you want to! You can build things out of blocks, or create your own materials from raw resources. You can also play against other players online, either on servers or by hosting your own games.

Minecraft is one of those rare games that has no real objective—there’s no winning condition. It’s just about having fun and playing around with what’s available to you.

Undertale

Undertale is a video game that has been getting rave reviews since its release in September of 2015. Undertale is a role-playing game (RPG) where you play as a character named Frisk who is trying to escape from the Underground, a world below the surface of your hometown. You must fight monsters, or “fellows,” to collect gold and items that will help you on your journey. The game’s main mechanic is deciding whether or not to kill or spare each monster you encounter throughout the game. Killing monsters will make them more powerful but it also allows you to gain experience points needed for leveling up.
